Hey all!
What i got to say about BBC Learning English website?
Well, i think is great! i can't believe there is a free website with content as complete as this! It has strong, useful and creative tools for helping us for improving our English in a comfy and didactic way.
I focused my attention on the following sections:
>>> KEEP YOUR ENGLISH UP TO DATE
Is very useful specially if you are planning to go to a country where English is the native language. Explains the origin and the meaning of words and phrases which translation is not logical or deductible by they literall meaning; in other words, words or phrases that have they meaning given by culture.
I've learnt, in example, the origin of "make my day" expression, i already knew what it meant but i didn't know from where did it come -You'll have to check that section :D-
There are another common-used expressions as The full monty, wannabe or wired.
>>> ASK ABOUT ENGLISH
It helps us to clear the tipycal doubt about little difference of meaning between some words (for example Pain - Ache - Hurt - Sick ), the meaning of a single word (in example "almost" "as well" "besided" etc) it explains in which circumstance you should use them.
>>> HOW TO
I loved this oneee, it helps you to don't make a fool of yourself in public context.
In this section is explained "how to" build a phrase for specific situations. in example; How to ask for the time, it tells you which phrase would be ok for one or another situations and tells you which is more polite and respectful with strangers. And so on with another topics, like How to ask politely somebody to go out, or how to ask somebody to borrow you somebody.
I think this one is extremely helpful, because, if you are going to be involved in a country where English is the native language, even if people are aware that you don't speak english excellent; if you commit a mistake asking or saying maybe in delicate situations, you could be misinterpreted and maybe it would be seen very bad. I think that somebody -even a webpage- that teach you how to say things correctly for situations that already have implicit rules and already built expressions is veeery helpful (:
I think is enough for this entry.
So, that :D
oh, oh.
P.S.: beside all the specific good points of each section i menctioned, i forgot to say that there is a transversal cool feature in the webpage: as well you can read the lesson, you can listen in at the same time; you are improving pronunciation in every EVERY exercise.
&that is all.
Bye! :D

Brutti sporchi e cattivi
Hey all (:
I won't write about my favourite movie (Edward Scissorhands) just because i think everybody has seen it and i don't want to write of something not too interesting (or maybe 'new') . Then i thought about of another favourite movie for me (Requiem for a Dream) i mean, i love it, but the angst attacks me hardly after i see it, so i won't call it favourite because it would be almost masochist.
I guess you don't care about all the wondering process before i chose the movie that i will write about, so i will write about my final desition, and it is:

Brutti sporchi e cattivi
by Ettore Scola
Brutti, sporchi e cattivi; or "Ugly, Dirty and Bad" is a film made in 1976, directed by Ettore Scola (Italian, his last movie is Gente di Roma) who won Best Director award in Cannes Film Festival in that year and was nominated to Gold Palm in the same event.
I bought it two years ago and i saw it with a friend at his house (boyfriend at the time) and we loved it (:
I think we liked it because of the very high dose of sacarsm, it reachs the limit between disgusting and grotesque, and people is very damn cruel. I mean, it's not gore. Let me introduce you to the movie (maybe the first introduction wasn't very nice ahahaha)

This movie is about how poverty is lived in Italy, tells the story about a family who lives piled up in a cardboard "house" in one of the small mountains in Italy, in a village of very poor people. In this family there is a guy, the family boss, who has a small fortune, he is so swine with all his family. The story starts showing the way that all of his family hates him and how he thinks that everybody wants to kill him because of his fortune; and how he begins to spend it with another woman and... well that's the movie.

I strongly recommend this movie, is an awesome social critic and everytime you see it (i've seen it 2 or 3 times) you discover new things. You laugh, you hate, you love and -the more important thing i think it has- you criticize the society and how the way it is built makes some people never came out of poverty cicle.
When i bought this movie, somebody told me (you had a boyfriend, it looks like... cshdahda) to see ALL Ettore Scola movies, that if i liked this movie then i'll love the other ones. Well, i've not seen any of another Ettore Scola's Movies, so i think i should check them out.
Finally; if you wondered about all the movies that came into my mind when i were thinking about which one to write, then, i'll leave you here a small list:
Bonjour Monsieur Schlomi { a movie written, directed & filmed in Israel, it's about a boy -Schlomi- who is very helpful with all his family, but he left himself away, the story tells the way he finds himself again }
Three Extreme { Three short movies from Oriental directors, it's supposed to be an 'horror trylogy' but i think is only suspense with some bizarre & hilarious scenes at the end of each movie }
Amores Perros { holy crap. it's like CRASH, but one thousand times better. }
Sorry, Haters { about sad people in the world. but is not about that, but in it's deepness show you all those angsty things }
Le fabuleux destin du Amelie Poulain { you got to be happy, no matter what }
Donnie Darko { i think i did not get it. i saw the second half without subtitles, maybe this is the reason why i liked it alot ahahaha }
500 days of summer { i just loved it, is that kind of movies that makes your heart to beat again }

Laura Varsky
I chose the designer alternative because i don't watch any TV and i can't remember any commercial D:
Well, in first place i'd like to say that I don't think there is a "best designer" the are a lot of skills to got developed and i think in each "category" i can say one or two i think they rock.
I'll talk about one i specially love, i am a fan of her from a couple years ago.
LAURA VARSKY.
She is an Argentinian Graphic Designer whose work has been focused on Illustration & lettering, appearing in a lot of musical & editorial projects.
She was one of lecturers at SÚDALA 2009 { the first congress of design & visual culture } in santiago, Chile.
Her work {in my opinion} is full of magic, of beautiful & oniric images mixed with very well-done & dreaming lettering { letetring is called when you draw typography specially for one purpose, for example: a logo, an specific illustration, etc }

What about the earthquake
The day of the earthquake i was at a friend's apartment celebrating her birthday.
We were at the corner of the balcony (it was a laarge balcony with a large window all around it). We were playing a cinema trivia game that needs a DVD, so we were watching a short-film for then answer some questions of the trivia when the earthquake started, at the begging it was slow, so we continued watching the TV.
After half a minute or so, it became stronger and the TV (who was HUGE) started to jump on the table. So we held the TV all over the earthquake (we were around 5 friends). After the first minute of the earthquake, the building started to move with strength, and another building was too close from us, the curtains were open so we saw how the buildings were getting closer at each movement. the movement was so hard so we thought the building in the side-to-side movements will collapse and the building will continue with the movement to the floor -i usually don't care about earthquakes, even i enjoy them. but at that moment i was very scared and i thought we are going to die, the movement was too too too tooooo strong!!!- . I wanted to reach something of the floor but when i attempted to take my hand out of the TV i almost fell down so i just continued there until the earthquake stopped.
My friend was hysterical, so we were lucky that her boyfriend were there for calming her down. My brother called me instantly and told me not to move from wherever i were; the light was out only a few hours and we always had water. My friend said that all the fridge things will die so she started to eat everything (hahaha), we ate some cake (it was really yummy) and wondered about what happened in the whole city and then -around 5 am- the light came back and we watched the news until 7am -or so- when we fall asleep.
My mother called me at the morning -like 9am or so- for picking me up from my friend's house.
The funny thing was that we had to leave my friend's apartment around 2 am. After the earthquake stopped & all her family was awake her mom laughed and only for this time she was happy that we were there at that time.
Well, i gotta say i didn't want to get a shower until sunday, i was afraid about an aftershock; and i got the gas turned off until sunday too. Well, things were kinda ironical because i were at my mom's house all those days, and she lives in an 11th floor, but the building din't got any any damage and i felt secure there with my mom (:
I'm thankful that all my family & beloved ones are ok and they didn't suffer any material or physical damage after the earthquake. My cat escaped for a day or so but now he is ok, thanks to him i notice when there is an aftershock -he runs away very hysterical.
I've been always pretty bad for notice earthquakes & stuff and things hasn't changed. I've only felt around 5 aftershocks in this month and a half and when i feel it i just keep doing what i was doing, the only difference now is that im ready to run if it's necessary, and i think that all the aftershocks will continue and last a long time.
& that's my earthquake story.
(the other good part was that my brother & i were alone at our house -father's house- for about 2 weeks before the earthquake, and in parties & stuff we got tons of glasses & things broken. When my father came back -on sunday- was happy that only those things were broken after the earthquake.)
